Toyota Tundra recall - it's teeny, tiny this time

NEW YORK (CNNMoney.com) -- Toyota Motor Corp., under fire for how it handled its recall of more than 8 million cars has a new problem, but it's a tiny one. The carmaker is recalling two Tundra pick-up trucks.

Not two models of Tundra truck, mind you. They're recalling exactly two trucks.

As part of -- actually, all of -- the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's recall campaign number 10V091000, Toyota is recalling two model year 2010 trucks built on October 24 in its San Antonio, Texas, factory because an improper weld on the front propeller shaft could cause it to separate.

A total of 500 trucks were made that day with the faulty part. When the problem was discovered, during a vehicle test, two trucks had made it all the way to customers' homes.

To fix the problem, Toyota will replace the front

Whether it's two, or two million, the issue remains Toyota's quality control

The MSM will be too busy telling us that we've got ObamaCare. Oh, wait... that's also a national disaster.

After having this big world wide recall, it is not a surprice that the media will consentrate on finding problems, even real small ones, for Toyota.

It so realates to the story, that it has become dependent on attention, even if it doesn't effect many.

We are going to hear about every Toyota recall for quite sometime. Toyota wants to be seen a pro-active and reliable. Watch their recent ads. They have a lot of PR damage to overcome.

This is a waste of news. Just piling on Toyota. You don't heard much if any about GM recalls from the state-run media.

2 trucks?? Well, anything to sell newspapers.

Oh, BTW, these trucks were built in San Antonio. So that just goes to show you, don't buy American made junk.

Tundras are great trucks. I wouldn't worry about any recall, especially one that involves only two vehicles.

Toyota bragged earlier how they were reducing the costs of their parts. They obviously went too far and they are now paying the price for it.

The rules were made for a large recall. An exception needs to be included in the rules that covers isolated small instances like this. Apparently, since it has been approximately five months since the trucks were built and only two trucks have been delivered out of the 500 built that day, the lead time in Toyota truck production is approximately five months. That in itself is atrocious. If we assume that the average manufactured cost per vehicle is only $10,000, then the means that the lead time cost for the 500 trucks is in excess of $5,000,000.

did they drive these trucks to the customers home???

now that would be service.

buy the vehicle from home anywhere.. delivered to your door in 3 days...

like Raymore and Flanigan except for the whole lower 48...

I'd love it if Honda would deliver my next vehicle directly to the door...

I drove 300 miles each way to pick up my 2010 Hybrid in Virginia City, VA.

(course I used under 8 gallons of gas on the way back)

More than likely these two vehicles have already been fixed. Otherwise how would they know there was a problem.

The press had already blew this out of proportion in February. By anouncing the recall on the prop shaft without telling the actual problem or numbers. now almost two months later we hear the numbers
